AntiPolygraph.org News comments on the Agence France Presse report that Iraq has turned to polygraphs to outsmart Al-Qaeda. Now, if you don’t know the joke behind the polygraph—or any lie detection device—it’s basically a feat of conjuring, a parlor trick. Like some other police questioning techniques, it involves lying in order to make you believe that it works. Then when it does “work,” you attribute it to the magic of the machine.  read more »
